1. Who we are
buyasquaread.fyi (“Buy a Square Ad”, “we”, “us”) is run by [to be added before launch], [to be added before launch]. You can contact us at [email protected].
2. What you are buying
You are buying a licence for your ad (an image, a title and a link) to be shown in the squares you choose on the grid at buyasquaread.fyi. You don’t own the squares, the pixels or the website. We don’t promise any amount of traffic, clicks or sales, or any effect on your search ranking.
3. How long your ad stays up
Your ad stays on the grid for as long as buyasquaread.fyi runs, with no renewal fees, unless it is removed under section 8.
4. Price and payment
- One square costs £1.25. Two or more squares cost £1 each. The price shown before checkout is the full price.
- Payment is taken by Stripe when you check out. We don’t see or store your card details.
- Squares are first come, first served. They are held for you for a short time while you add your ad and pay. If your payment arrives after the hold has ended and the squares are no longer available, we refund you in full.
5. Approval and refunds
- Every ad is checked by a person against our content policy before it goes up.
- If we decide not to accept your ad, we refund the full amount to your original payment method and the contract ends. We don’t have to give a reason, but we’ll usually tell you why.
- Your ad goes live once it’s approved. We aim to review ads within one working day.
6. Your right to cancel
At checkout you ask us to start supplying your ad straight away and you acknowledge that, as a result, you lose the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations once your ad is approved and live. This doesn’t affect your other legal rights.
7. Your ad
- You promise that you have the right to use everything in your ad, that it is accurate and lawful, and that it follows our content policy and the CAP Code.
- You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, resize, re-encode and show your ad on the grid and in pages and images that show the grid, for as long as it is on the grid.
- You can’t change your ad yourself. Email us to ask; any change is reviewed like a new ad.
8. Removing ads
We may remove a live ad if:
- it, or the page its link leads to, breaks our content policy or the law;
- we are required to by law or by a court, regulator or other authority; or
- its link becomes unsafe, for example flagged for malware or phishing.
If we remove an ad because it breaks our content policy or these terms, we won’t usually refund it and the squares may be offered to someone else. If we remove it for any other reason, we refund you in full. Either way, we’ll email you to explain.
9. Our responsibility to you
We’re responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Unless the law says otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights.
10. Changes and law
- We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one in force when you paid.
- These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
